According to the
Alpienstars brochure, "The double hinge joint allows
upper and lower protective structures to protect the
ankle and heel, while giving complete freedom,
flexibility and feel to the rider by following the
natural movements of the foot and ankle..."
What I felt when
tested this boot in the first time was that the
Tech 10 was very comfortable at the first time
ever wearing and allowed nice movement range and
good feel.
To give the rider the ability to further lessen
stresses put on the knee, a major concern for
many, a replaceable softer-material inner bar is
included with the Tech 10. This allows the rider
to customize the degree of ankle control and
therefore the amount of possible stress
transmitted to the knees when the boot gets into
deep ruts etc.
The Tech 10 weight
was minimized around the foot to bring the
boot's center of gravity upper near the rider's
body. This feature improves rider's performance
as it reduces inertia of leg movements while
riding.
The Alpinestars
Tech 10 design combines two hard shells to
protect the rider's foot and lower leg, with the
double hinge internal ankle brace filling the
flexible gap around the ankle.
The PU
progressive rear guard adds lateral support and
prevents the rider from over flexing backward.
It allows only a limited range of backwards
flexing and stops bending before the rider's
ankle is over-flexed.
Here are some
other features of the Alpienestars Tech 10 's:
The
inner bootie provides very good support and
provides confidence to the rider.
The rider's control and feel are good also due
to bootie structure. This one is designed for
shock absorption on the heel and ankles with a
thin, flexible forefoot for increased control.
Inner side of the boot is designed for maximum
grip against the bike from top to bottom and is
very helpful in situations with limited "boot -
bike frame" contact.
3 buckle system works in conjunction with the
entire internal structure to provide support and
flexibility.
New form fitting PU gasket seals water out of
the boot. This is very important for enduro
riders. |
